Choosing an Event Planner for Your Wedding

Event Planner
A wedding is usually a big event. While you can plan your own wedding, it can take a great deal of burden off your shoulders to hire an event planner. These professionals take care of the details that most couples find tedious and even difficult. The first step is to select a wedding event planner. If you live in a small town, your choices may be limited and therefore easy to make. For those in bigger cities, there will be quite a few wedding planners from which you can choose. You can compile a list of those near you by looking in the Yellow Pages, however the Internet should be the next place you go on your search.
Take the list of wedding event planners you’ve compiled and search for their websites using a major search engine like Google or Yahoo, for example. Any decent planner should have a website that details their services and may even have photographs of past weddings they’ve worked on. A company’s website is like a virtual portfolio of their work, you can learn a lot about them just by browsing their site. You may be able to narrow down the list this way, as many details of their services and even rates may be listed on the site.
After you’ve narrowed things down, preferably to the top three you have found, it is time for face-to-face consultations. This may involve the bride and her parents, or the couple, depending on who is doing all the wedding planning. The initial consultation will go over your overall plans for the wedding, and the planner will note the details. Also their fee will be discussed and if you are satisfied with them contracts will be signed. From there, the planning will commence on a more detailed scale.
The event planner will work with their client to choose the venue, the officiant, the reception location, and match the decorations to the wedding colors chosen by the couple or the bride. They will choose florists, DJs and photographers with the approval of their client, and of course details like the kind of flowers desired will be chosen by the client unless it has been left up to the planner. The client can also help choose the caterer, menu and of course the wedding cake. Clients of a wedding event planner can have as much input in the process as they want to have. The goal of a wedding planner is to make putting together the perfect wedding easier for the engaged couple.
